Coastal Towns and Harbours...
The beautiful coastal towns of Honfleur, Trouville-sur-Mer and Deauville are well worth a visit. Strictly speaking, Honfleur lies within the estuary of the River Seine - but the river is so wide here that it can be considered to be a coastal town. Honfleur is centred on its beautiful harbour, around which are situated many old houses, many up to 6 stories high. Honfleur lies at the southern end of the Pont de Normandie - the last bridging point on the Seine. This graceful bridge has a span of 850m and rises to an elevation of 52m at its centre point. The bridge is a cable-stay bridge and, when it was opened in January 1995 it held the record as the longest bridge of this type in the world.
